Brainard C. Simpson, CPA, FA

​Bringing over 45 years of extensive experience in conducting audits and providing management consulting services, Brainard is a graduate of California State University. After acquiring his CPA accreditation in 1973, he gained five years of audit experience at Ernst & Ernst and three years of internal audit experience as Director of Internal Audits with Atlantic Richfield Co.

​

Brainard co-founded Simpson & Simpson, CPAs in 1976, and he has successfully serviced a vast range of industries such as government, heath care, not-for-profit organizations, for-profit entities, educational institutions, public utilities, and employee benefit plans.

Brainard's role includes serving as the Quality Control and Engagement Partner in performing annual audits wherein he has been extensively involved and has worked closely with clients including but not limited to:

• City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power

• Water and Power Employee Retirement Plans,

• Southern California Edison Employee Benefit Plans,

• City of Los Angeles Department of Fire and Police Pensions System,

• Sempra Energy Employee Benefit Plans,

• Los Angeles Unified School District,

• Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles,

• Los Angeles Commuinity Health Plan,

•  City of Port Hueneme,

• Los Angeles County's Department of Parks & Recreation, and

• Municipal Improvement Corporation of LA & Sewer and Construction Fund.

As a vibrant member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), California Society of CPAs, Georgia Society of CPAs, Alabama Society of CPAs, and Governmental Finance Officers Associations of the United States and Cananda, Brainard has also served as President of the Los Angeles Chapter of National Associations of Black Accountants.

He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of Watts Health Foundation and has taught Accounting classes at University of Southern California as well as California State University at Los Angeles.
